"365: AIGA Annual Design Exhibition"
2001-01-18 until 2001-03-30
AIGA National Design Center Gallery
New York, NY, USA United States of America

AIGA conducts an annual juried national competition that draws more than 4,000 entries of all forms of graphic design. This premier annual exhibition showcases the entrants functional, strategic and aesthetic qualities. Judged this year by Gayle Christensen (Federal Express, Memphis), Karin Fong (Imaginary Forces, Los Angeles), Tom Geismar (Chermayeff & Geismar Inc., New York), Russ Haan (After Hours Creative, Phoenix), Maira Kalman (M&Co., New York) and Margaret Youngblood, chair (Landor Associates, San Francisco). Under the name of “AIGA Communication Graphics”, this country’s premier design competition sets the standards for the profession. Through the exhibition of the selections, AIGA addresses its commitment to evaluating design in the broader context of commerce and culture.

Ranging from printed materials and packaging to interactive communications, some of this year’s winners include:

- Martha by Mail Bean Labels, by Gael Towey, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia
- Hip Hop Week Spot, by Randi Davis, MTV Networks
- Insects and Spiders U.S. Postage Stamps, by Terrence McCaffrey
- E*Trade Group, Inc., Annual Report 1999, by David Broom, Broom & Broom

The exhibition will run through March 30, 2001. AIGA is located at 164 Fifth Avenue; gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
