The following artists have been shortlisted for The Citibank Private Bank Photography Prize
2001: Roni Horn (USA), Boris Mikhailov (Ukraine), Hannah Starkey (Ireland), Jem Southam (UK)
and Hellen van Meene (The Netherlands). Work by each of the artists will be on display at The Photographers' Gallery between 2 February - 24 March 2001. The announcement of the winner of the £15,000 Prize, will be made by Lord David Putnam of Queensgate' CBE on 1 March 2001 at The Photographers' Gallery, London.
The jury this year is David Chandler, writer and Director of Photoworks, England; Ute Eskildsen,
Curator, Museum Folkwang, Essen, Germany; Catherine Yass, artist, London, and Ian Dunlop,
Fine Art Consultant, who is the non-voting chairman.
The Prize was founded by Citibank Private Bank in 1996 to reward the individual judged to have
made the most significant contribution to the medium of photography over the previous year.
In its five year history, The Citibank Private Bank Photography Prize has recognised a high
calibre of winners: Anna Gaskell (America, 2000), Rineke Dijkstra (The Netherlands, 1999),
Andreas Gursky (Germany, 1998) and Richard Billingham (UK, 1997).
