Focusing on early postwar art through the
beginning of pop art, this exhibition will encompass
in-depth monographic installations of work by
leading artists of this period. MOCA’s collecting
philosophy provides an opportunity to more fully
trace their artistic development. Included will be
painting, sculpture, and photography by Jean
Fautrier, Robert Frank, Franz Kline, Robert
Rauschenberg, Mark Rothko, Antoni Tapies, and
others.
This presentation together with A Room of
Their Own: From Oldenburg to Gober will span more
than 50 years of contemporary art. The exhibition
is co-organized by MOCA chief curator Paul
Schimmel and curatorial associate Colette
Dartnall.
Room of Their Own: From Oldenburg to Gober
opened February 4, 2001, and continues indefinitely
the Geffen Contemporary.
Focusing on the later periods of pop art and
continuing through to minimalism and the art of
the '90s, this exhibition will encompass in-depth
monographic installations of work by leading artists
of this period. Included will be painting, sculpture,
photography, and works on paper by Diane Arbus,
Robert Irwin, Brice Marden, Charles Ray, James
Rosenquist, and James Turrell, and others. This
presentation together with A Room of Their Own:
From Rothko to Rauschenberg will span more than
50 years of contemporary art. The exhibition is
co-organized by MOCA chief curator Paul Schimmel
and curatorial associate Colette Dartnall.
