Its that time again, when all the energy that has been bubbling away in South East
Queensland's art schools bursts onto the Brisbane art scene . In celebration, the
IMA launches its year of exhibitions with Fresh Cut 2001. This years' show draws
on both undergraduate and honours students from the Queensland College of Art
and the Queensland University of Technology, and the vista is looking bright.
Audiences visiting the show will have the opportunity to move through a diverse
range of issues, ideas and interests, piecing together what drives emerging
artists.
Fresh Cut 2001 provides a snapshot of the continuing enthusiasm there is for
contemporary art. For what stands out about this years exhibition is the artists'
fascination and delight with looking and discovering different ways
of experiencing objects, images and ideas. The audience will enjoy the infectious enthusiasm these 'up and comers' clearly display in their work and catch a glimpse of where contemporary art is going to next.
