"What Does Love Have to Do with It - A look at love form the permentant collection"
2001-02-20 until 2001-12-31
Indianapolis Museum of Art
Indianapolis, IN,
USA
From romantic love to God's love, artists have, for
centuries, created works celebrating love. All of the
works featured on this Web site are now on view in
the IMA's permanent collections galleries. Enjoy
them here, or visit the IMA to see these works and
others that touch upon the theme of love. A free
gallery guide is available at the Herron Hall
information desk.
The exhibition includes works from across the globe such as Picasso's painting - MKa Jolie; an ancient earthenware jar which acts as a farewell gift from China; a Zulu neck ornament or love letters; 18th century European porcelain sculptures that could be considered romantic, or risque; an Indonesian wedding gift; and Robert Indiana's LOVE.
