"Timescape: Unearthng the Mysteries of Time"
2001-02-19 until 2001-05-27
Ontario Science Centre
Toronto, ON, CA Canada

Nature tells stories that unfold over time. Traces of Time is a stunning photographic exhibition of more than thirty images and five diagrams that depict the passage of time in beautiful and majestic ways, from the blooming of a flower to the carving of canyon. Opening at the Ontario Science Centre the photographic display complements the Science Centre's current interactive exhibition, TIMESCAPE: Unearthing the Mysteries of Time.

An inspired collaboration between photographer William Neill and the Exploratorium, San Francisco's museum of art, science, and human perception. Traces of Time illustrates the effects of the passage of time on natural surroundings. Accompanying the 16 x 20 images are scientific observations in everyday language. They explain natural events that last a fraction of a second as we'l as those that take millions of years to reveal themselves: from the growth of tree rings, to the Colorado River's carving of the Grand Canyon. This exhibition reveals a world in process, in which cliff faces reflect time more eloquently than clocks and calendars.
