The Center for Photography at Woodstock offers students the opportunity to participate in the entire WOOODSTOCK PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP ANO LECTURE SERIES as interns (tuition remission of over $5000). CPW seeks individuals who are curious, highly motivated, technically skilled, can handle diverse audiences, and a fast paced work environment.
Since 1979 the Center has presented the renown WOODSTOCK PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP ANO LECTURE SERIES, an educational offering, presented each year, June - October, where national/international artists serve as teachers and lead intensive, hands-on classes on topics ranging from fine printing, landscape, portraiture, professional development, fashion, alternative techniques, and vision. Participants come from all over the U.S. and abroad to meet and study with working photographers in an intimate environment to learn new skills with experienced professionals. Workshop leaders have included Ruth Bernhard, Mary Ellen Mark, Sam Abe/, Joyce Tenneson, Maggie Steber, Eugene Richards, Arnold Newman, Olivia Parker, Jock Sturges, Duane Michaels, Larry fink, Bruce Davidson, and more. The Workshops are paralleled by an evening lecture series, where Workshop leaders present talks about their work and careers to the public.
AREAS OF STUDY: Interns learn strategies in teaching, creative image making, and gain access to the professional realm; an entire range of topics are presented in a concise and relatively short span of time. Interns have the opportunity to personally meet and work with each visiting artist, share their portfolios with professionals, be exposed to a diversity of approaches to the medium, experience first-hand a wide range of teaching styles and philosophies, and learn techniques and skills for a wide range of topics in photography.
