Five thousand years ago, on the banks of the Nile, ancient Egyptian craftsmen spent their days creating gifts to the gods and objects for the afterlife. From March 2 through May 27, 2001, the Toledo Museum of Art will host 144 of these mysterious treasures- from minute flagons to mammoth statues- during the North American premiere of Eternal Egypt: Masterworks of Ancient Art from The British Museum.
This extraordinary exhibition features renowned masterpieces and little-known riches from the world-famous Egyptian antiquities collection of the British Museum. More than half of these priceless objects- crafted from approximately 3000 B.C. to A.D. 150- have never before been exhibited outside Britain.
