"Go Figure: Exploring The Human Body In Art"
2001-02-24 until 2002-12-31
Dayton Art Institute
Dayton, OH,
USA
Of all the subjects for art, none is more prevalent than
the human figure. From the beginning of world history to recent times, the human figure has been depicted in art across all cultures. Opening Feb. 24, GO FIGURE! is presented by the Mead Corporation Foundation, with additional support from Mrs. John B. Greene. A local bookstore, Sam & Eddie's Open Books in Yellow Springs, is sponsoring the reading area.
The Art Institute's new Experiencenter exhibition, Go Figure: Exploring the Human Body in Art, will invite all ages to explore how the human figure is depicted in western and non-western cultures. The Mead Corporation Foundation is pleased to sponsor the GO FIGURE, exhibition because it supports two of our priorities--ensuring quality education for young people and enriching the community through arts and culture, said Ronald F. Budzik, chairman of The Mead Corporation Foundation. Mead has a long tradition as an active participant in educating the next generation. We see this exhibit as an opportunity to both teach and inspire
students of all ages.
