"B(u)y the Foot: An Interactive Exhibition"
2001-03-15 until 2001-04-06
Northern Illinois University Art Gallery in Chicago
Chicago, IL,
USA United States of America
Over fifty local artists were invited to draw, write, paint, collage, print and do other inspired things on rolls of drawing paper that will temporarily cover the gallery walls. The process of creating artworks will be progressive, where artists will claim an area of paper, with the possibility of other artists’ works continuing, relating to, interacting with or possibly undermining earlier works. The finished 420 linear feet of artwork will be sold for $10 per foot during the closing festivities Friday, April 6th.
Artists will be working on their piece(s) during special extended evening and weekend gallery hours, times that the gallery will also be open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to drop by periodically to watch participating artists while they work and experience the constantly-changing gallery environment as the walls are transformed during this three week period.
The NIU Art Gallery is located at 215 W. Superior, 3rd Floor. Special gallery hours are Thursdays, March 15, 22, 29 and April 5 from 12- 8, Fridays, March 16, 23, 30 and April 6 from 11 - 4, Saturdays, March 17, 24 and 31 from 11- 4 and Sundays, March 18, 25 and April 1 from 1 - 5.
