"WILLIS BING DAVIS: Ceremony and Ritual"

Artist, Art Educator and multicultural arts consultant Willis Bing Davis will present his first solo exhibition in Indianapolis since since 1978 from March 9 through June 3, 2001 at the Indianapolis Art Center. Entitled Ceremony and Ritual, the show will highlight Bing's work from the past 10 years including his Urban Masks, Urban Artifacts, Urban Rainforest and Ancestral Spirit Dance series. Davis lives in Dayton, Ohio and most recently was a Visiting Scholar at Wright State University.

Also on view will be the results of a year-long project joining artists from Dayton/Cincinnati and Indianapolis. Nearly twenty artists have visited each other's studios, taken trips and pursued hands-on workshops together. The exhibition will show the influence the project has had on the development of their individual artistic visions.
