"Architecture of Silence: David Heald Photographs "
2001-03-17 until 2001-05-23
Cleveland Museum of Art
Cleveland, OH, USA

David Heald worked in the CMA's photography studio from 1974 to 1981, before moving to New York, where he is chief photographer of the Guggenheim Museum. Long interested in architecture and the natural landscape, Heald made seven trips to France between 1985 and 1995 to photograph early Cistercian Abbeys.

In his luminous black-and-white photographs, he explores the architecture of these medieval buildings renowned for their design and construction.
