The Archibald Prize is one of Australia's oldest and most prestigious art awards. Its primary aims are to foster portraiture, support artists and perpetuate the memory of great Australians. The Wynne Prize is awarded for landscape painting of Australian scenery or figure sculpture. The Sir John Sulman Prize is awarded for subject, genre or mural painting. The Dobell Prize for Drawing was initiated in order to encourage excellence in drawing and draughtsmanship. This prize is sponsored by the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation.
