The sculptures will be divided into two main arenas: One large studio based work in the area at the lower end of the garden, near the restaurant complex and
the wilder area, higher up in the gardens, in the stone pine forest area, would be
eminently suitable for 'land art'.
The organizers will consider 15 participants. A Public Eye committee, in conjunction with a representative from Kirstenbosch, would make selections from these. The chosen artists will be invited to choose a site where they feel their work will be displayed in the rightful manner. Theh comittee foresees that some of the artists' work will be produced in their studios and then installed at the chosen site, while others may prefer to work on-site.
Main criteria for each artist would be that their work must be durable for outside weather and on display for a 3 month period or longer.
