Grahame Sydney is regarded as one of New Zealand's major artists and his work has sold internationally to private and public collectors.The Hocken Library/Mainfreight 'On the Road' Tour of Sydney's work is now showing at the Centre of Contemporary Art, Christchurch, New Zealand until 27 May 2001. This magnificent exhibition is a retrospective consisting of 35 of Sydney's paintings spanning his 1974 - 1999 period. The exhibition includes original drawings, etchings and paintings of egg tempera, watercolours and oils.

Sydney is best known for his magnificent landscapes of Central Otago, many of which hang in public and private collections in New Zealand and abroad. Such is the popularity of Sydney's work that his paintings are sold to a private waiting list, and many have never been seen publicly. Few can afford the originals, and the reproduced prints of his work have sold in their thousands.
