"20TH Anniversary Benefit Auction for BOMB Magazine"
2001-05-04 until 2001-05-21
Sothebys.com
New York, NY, USA United States of America

This sale will feature contemporary art donated by artists such as Sol Lewitt, Nan Goldin, Mike Bidlo, Louise Fishman, Susan Rothenberg and more. In honor of BOMB Magazine's 20th anniversary and its many achievements over the years, Sothebys.com is pleased to present a special online auction of contemporary art donated by the artists. The sale features 63 works including paintings, drawings, sculpture, prints and photographs, with estimates ranging from $600 to $11,000.

Bidding for these works is exclusively online on www.sothebys.com through May 21. All of these works will be on exhibition during a benefit dinner hosted by BOMB Magazine on May 21st at Eybeam Atelier, Inc. Following dinner, an additional nine lots will be offered in a live auction conducted by Sotheby's auctioneer Jamie Niven. For event information, please call 212 431 3943.

For the past 20 years, BOMB has dedicated itself to the presentation of contemporary art and literature. This non-profit organization offers a remarkable medium for both emerging and established artists to share their ideas by discussing the creative process. In an unmediated fashion, BOMB presents a living record of artists by artists.

Among the highlights of the online auction are Mike Bidlo’s infamous Not Warhol (Brillo Box), silkscreen on wood (est. $9/11,000); Sol Lewitt’s gouache on paper entitled Irregular Grid (est. $1/2,000); and Nan Goldin’s photograph Cookie at a Restaurant, Positano 1986 (est. $5/7,000).
