Paintings from the permanent collection
feature in the new exhibition in the
Yiribana Gallery on Level 1 of the Art
Gallery of New South Wales. On display
are recent acquisitions including an
early important painting by the late
Rover Thomas and a major new work by
Tiwi artist Kutuwalumi Purawarrumpatu
(Kitty Kantilla).
Representing some of
the most prominent indigenous art
producing communities, the exhibition
also includes works by some of
Australia's leading Aboriginal artists,
such as Emily Kame Kngwarreye, Long Tom
Tjapanangka and Ginger Riley.
