Most of Stina Brockman's art is about
capturing the feeling of the fugitive moment, the quick glance. She isn't
out after beauty or constructed prettiness but seeks the source of how
people look. Forms and atmosphere are often reinforced in her photographs
through the struggle between clarity or sharpness and blurredness, which is
complicated by her use of the large-format camera.

The sensuous landscape of the human body recurs throughout Stina Brockman's
(born in 1951) photographic world. In her new pictures she actively
investigates the possibilities of sexuality and the dissolution of the
boundaries between male and female - or the relationship between the male
and female within one person.
