"Popular CultureS"
2001-06-10 until 2001-09-02
Andy Warhol Museum
Pittsburgh, PA, USA

The exhibition Popular CultureS will focus on the variety and global interweaving of popular cultures in contemporary art. Works presented will focus on three different artists from three different cultural areas - New Zealand, India and Africa, and related programs will represent a range od cultures. The exhibition and related programs will provide a view beyond what may often seem to be all-encompassing American popular Culture. Financial support has been provided by the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, and The Rockefeller Foundation. Yinka Shonibare’s presentation has been made possible with assistance from the British Council and Joe's Basement.
