London-based artist-filmmaker Tacita Dean (British, b. 1965) is represented by two 16mm wide-screen film installations - Fernsehturm, 2001, a
meditative 44-minute panorama of patrons in a restaurant revolving over Berlin, and Disappearance at Sea, 1996, an allegorical piece using a
lighthouse beam and sunset to reveal the distorted essence of a doomed man's final moments.
The exhibition has been supported in part by
Trellis Fund, the Elizabeth Firestone Graham Foundation, the British Council, The Henry Moore Foundation, and contributions to the
Hirshhorn's Annual Circle. Organized by Chief Curator Kerry Brougher, the show is accompanied by a free, illustrated brochure. Directions
