Founded and hosted by Edinburgh based artist PoL, the third annual E.I.I.Festival will be launched on 1st August. Featuring the now traditional online arts exhibition, photo-reviews, reading room and Internet theatre production 'Beating Time' (produced by London based Naked Theatre). A sponsorship deal provided by the Drummond Internet Group has provided this year's event with both a fully e-commerce equipped online sales room and a vast increase of webspace.
The success of the E.I.I.festival in previous year's has enabled this year's event to provide for the first time an actual presence in the 'real world.' Produced in association with composer Peter MacCalman, the five week long 'Flipside Festival' (as the live-side of the E.I.I.Festival 2001 has now become known in it's own right), features a wide range of artistic and musical events. Featuring over 80 bands & musicians from around the entire UK. The Flipside has risen within a matter of weeks from a single fundraising night... to one of the largest combined arts events in this year's Edinburgh Festival. The event also includes over nine hours of live music via web-broadcast from the Ross Bandstand in Princes St Gardens.
