"Gaspar Enriquez: Elegy on the Death of Cesar Chavez"

Painter Gaspar Enriquez is well known for his airbrushed, ultra-realistic imagery portraying the people of El Pasos barrios. This exhibition features Enriquezs series of 12 paintings illustrating Rudolfo Anayas poem Elegy on the Death of Cesar Chavez, which reflects upon the life and work of the late Chicano activist César Chávez.

Gaspar Enriquez was born in El Paso, Texas and received his art training in Los Angeles, the University of Texas at El Paso (B.A.) and New Mexico State University (M.A.). He teaches art at hispanic Bowie High School on the El Paso/Juarez border and his students oftentimes provide inspiration for his work. He has been included in numerous exhibitions including the nationally touring CARA (Chicano Art: Resistance and Affirmation) show. Gaspar Enriquezs is a significant voice for the sub-cultures along the U.S./Mexican border.
