"Ken Aptekar: Painting Between the Lines, 1990-2000"
2001-09-16 until 2001-12-02
Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art
Kansas City, MO,
USA
New York- and Paris-based artist Ken Aptekar has been incorporating
text on glass in his work since 1990, ranging from a single word
to narratives exploring the myriad guises that constitute a complex
individual. This ten-year retrospective reveals how Aptekar knits
together art historys and biographys dialogues by borrowing paintings
from Western art history and combining them with witty, poignant,
and often-autobiographical stories.
Ken Aptekar is an artist in
residence. The exhibition will travel to The College of Wooster
Art Museum, Wooster, OH, and the Muscarelle Museum of Art, College
of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA.
