"Requiem for the Staircase: Curated by Architect Oscar Tusquets"
2001-10-24 until 2002-01-27
Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona
Barcelona, , ES Spain

Oscar Tusquets has chosen thirteen main models of staircase (straight flight, winding, half-turn, multiple flights, stairs in the air, the impossible staircase...) which he presents in the form of models, plans, photographs and life-size reproductions of real staircases.

Professor Juan Antonio Ramirez has selected a few very important paintings and drawings representing the entire history of art, in which each of the stairways has been represented by great artists. These are accompanied by film footage and literary excerpts.

The result forms an itinerary around emblematic works which take us from: Miguel Ángel Buonarroti to Dalí, from Piranesi to Hitchcock, from Le Corbusier to Frank Gehry, from Leonora Carrington to Miró and from Escher to Julio Cortázar, works and creators of all times presented to be seen and celebrated with all the senses.
