"Hevelepter 2001 Second Annual Exhibition"
2001-10-27 until 2001-11-27
Mariners Gallery, St Ives Society of Artists
St Ives, Cornwall, , UK United Kingdom

This second Hevelepter exhibition at the Mariners Gallery in St. Ives, features a video installation from Agnes Roberts, paintings by Hannah Carbis and Roger Davison with performance photography from Jay Polkest.

An uncompromising but approachable sample of untourist art from artists who recognise the distinct cultural nativity of contemporary Cornwall.

The universality of R.Davisons painting certainly shares a little of the St Ives traditions but revells in a twilight that escapes the chronological classification, there is modernism present and a Shakespearean indulgence of the persona that anchors its visual images in the common pysche.

Hannah Carbis contacts the evocation of her self in this landscape and uses whatever she sees to perfect the reality that exists both on and beyond a canvas.A rare outing for this most devout human.

Agnes Roberts presents The Opposite of Reason, a video installation selected by the Eisteddfod in Wales.

Jay Polkest engages the viewer with various photographic works and time based performance pieces.
