"Will Maclean: Driftworks"
2001-11-24 until 2002-02-03
Dundee Contemporary Arts
Dundee, , UK

Driftworks brings together a number of new and existent works by Will Maclean. Continuing his fascination with museums and the presentation of meaningful objects, the exhibition includes works in a variety of media, often combining actual found objects with more ambiguous forms.

The work shares Maclean’s interest in the mythologies of the sea and the relics of our culture. They offer fragmentary portraits of a people and a place.

Will Maclean is one of the most respected of his generation of artists in Scotland, and has been Professor at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design in Dundee since 1994.

He was the recipient of one of the first Creative Scotland Awards in 2000, given to support the realisation of new work for this exhibition.
