"Holiday Greetings at the Allis and Villa"
2001-12-02 until 2002-01-13
Charles Allis Art Museum
Milwaukee, , USA United States of America

a festive celebration for all ages December 2, 2001 through January 13, 2002. Amid trees, wreaths, and garlands are angels, birds, fruit and flowers, creating an elegant seasonal foil. The public reception on Sunday, December 2, 1-5 p.m., includes spirited music, fantastic gallery exhibitions and refreshments. Celebrate the Allis‚ new period decorations while savoring English tea items, and tour both mansions in period décor, the Villa at 1 p.m. and the Allis, 2 p.m.

Holidays at the Allis ~ The 1911 English Allis mansion will herald newly designed Tudor-style decorations created by the Charles Allis/Villa Terrace Renaissance Garden Club. Inspired by English Christmases past, the lavish period decorations will include greens, ivy, mistletoe, and colorful ribbons. A traditional favorite, The Angel Tree, will be showered with over 175, turn-of-the-century to modern angelic faces in paraffin, porcelain, felt and cloth.

View gallery exhibitions and the permanent collection of treasures spanning 2,000 years, and explore J.R.R. Tolkien‚s fantastical world of hobbits, elves, dwarves and dragons through the eyes of German artist Michael Kutzer in The Hobbit Series: Etchings & Aquatints by Michael Kutzer. The exhibition complements and celebrates The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy beginning December 2001, and in 2002, the 65th anniversary of The Hobbit.
