"Exhibition Launches New Venue: Unit 2 - Museum Artists"
2001-12-05 until 2001-12-18
Digital Art Museum
London, , UK United Kingdom

After a year of hard work by a team of dedicated working professionals, The Digital Art Museum will launch with a physical exhibition of the major online presence: http://www.dam.org. Not to be confused with other digital art galleries‚ the DIGITAL ART MUSEUM is already, and will continue to grow into, the largest and most important reference tool to the Pioneers of Digital Art, past, present and future.

Currently the website holds a large amount of work on Laurence Gartel, Manfred Mohr and Roman Verostko, not only their work but also there entire biography, press cuttings, critiques and publications together with timelines so that visitors can see the development of digtial art by each artist and how they relate to each other. Also included are exhibition listings of past, current and future exhibitions specifically on Digital Art, and through this area also linking to galleries in each country which specifically work with Digital Artists.

Phase one of the site which will cover 1956-1986 will initially cover the work of 25 artists, (no mean feat!). Phase two (1987-1995) and three (1996-2006) will be online soon.

This online Museum and exhibition at Unit 2 is supported by significant grants from AHRB and The Guildhall University and the hard work and dedication of Wolfgang Lieser (Director), Mike King (researcher), Nicholas Lambert (researcher), Keith Watson (Director), Kerry John Andrews (Designer) and Alan Hicks (Systems Design), Alison Gilry (assistant researcher).

This is an ongoing development which has already become The PLACE for students, artists, journalists, and curators, from many countries to visit for information on this important subject which has not been covered in its entirety by any other organisation. The exhibition will include talks, slide shows and web links.
