"Echoes of the Spirit: Part of Japan 2001 Festival"
2001-12-15 until 2002-02-23
Bolton Museum and Art Gallery
Bolton, , UK United Kingdom

All over Japan, artists have joined hands with their disabled peers to breathe new life into the traditional arts of both Eastern and Western traditions. Five such collaborative groups have come together in this display of calligraphy, painting, drawing and photography - a fine illustration of social emancipation through the visual arts.

The touring exhibition will be accompanied by artwork and a programme of events created and performed by Bolton based artists with disabilities.

17th, 18th December 10.30-12.00 and 13.00-14.30
Tuesday 18th December extra evening performance 6-8pm
Wednesday 19th December 10.30-12.00
'Yoroshiku Ne'

Neil Farrelly will present his hugely interactive and highly amusing show based around Japanese art, complementing the Echoes of the Spirit exhibition.

A mix of old style paper stories, music, Buddhist chanting, kanji shapes, shuji painting, festival masks, Tanabata Wishing, little Zen games, poems, ideas and nonsense. Something different and exciting, this show will bring out the creative side in everybody!

Open to all ages. Tickets £3 adults, £2 children and concessions, telephone:01204 332245
