"Regional 2001 Jury Selected Exhibitions"

This year almost 500 portfolios were entered for the
Regionale 2001. Now 205 artistic positions emanating from
the region will be on show at the 12 participating exhibitions
venues, each of which was free to form its own selection jury.
This is the first time that the jointly organised annual
exhibition will extend beyond the borders.
The venues are as follows: Ausstellungsraum Klingental,
Cargo Bar, Galerie Werkstatt Reinach, gundeldinger
kunsthalle, Kaskadenkondensator, Kunsthalle Basel,
Kunsthaus Baselland, Kunst Raum Riehen, plug-in,
Projektraum M54, Städtische Galerie Stapflehus in Weil am
Rhein, Kunstverein im Marienbad, Freiburg.
Last year was the first time the annual exhibition was
organised in this form; this year the project could be
extended by way of additional exhibition venues. The
exhibition not only communicates an impression of the
diversity of the art being produced in the region, but also of
the large number of local cultural institutions. Different
exhibition concepts will be in evidence, from the classical
annual exhibition with its wide-ranging selection of works, to
theme-related presentations. All the venues will open as of 11
o'clock on the first day, and their invitations to the opening
day include the most varied events all taking place at closely
coordinated times.
