"Jurgen Schadeberg: A Major Photographic Exhibition"

Jurgen Schadeberg will present a major photographic exhibition at The
Pretoria Art Museum from January 21st, which will feature work over a
50-year time span. The exhibition, organised by The Alliance Française of
Pretoria, will be the first time that Jurgen Schadeberg exhibits in
Pretoria.
The official opening will take place on the 30th of January and
will feature Dolly Rathebe and Kader Asmal. From the 1950's to the XXI
century, from black and white to colour photos, this exhibition celebrates 50
years of life in South Africa. It will then tour several Alliance Francaise
venues in South Africa and neighbouring countries throughout 2002, including
Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Mitchell's Plain, Maseru and Gabarone.
The exhibition will see the launch of two new photographic books by Jurgen
Schadeberg, which accompany the exhibition: THE BLACK AND WHITE FIFTIES and
SOWETO TODAY, both published by Protea Book House.
