"L.O.V.E - A Brand New Show from the Independent Photographers Agency Growbag"
2002-05-13 until 2002-05-18
Association of Photographers Gallery
London, , UK United Kingdom

Love is in the air as procreate(TM) and The AOP Gallery present L.O.V.E - a brand new show from the independent photographers agency GROWBAG. For one week only, GROWBAG is giving cupid a run for his money as it brings together six of the UK’s most exciting photographers to capture the different meanings of love on film. Responding to the challenging brief, "love, no boundaries" the six have gone far and wide and to extreme lengths to answer the age-old question, "what is love?"

From wedding chapels in Vegas to lover’s beds in England, L.O.V.E takes an innovative and exciting look at what society thinks about love.

Talking about the inspiration for the show, Christine Cowdell (Agent/Producer) at Growbag said "We are a small independent agency working with a collective of photographers whose reputations precede them. We wanted to give them the opportunity to respond to an open brief."

She continued, "When we were thinking about an idea for a show, we all kept coming back to the theme of ‘love’. It is a word and a feeling that is open to so much interpretation that we thought it would be the perfect hook to showcase our photographer’s talent."

On Valentines Day, Simon Roberts travelled to Nevada to capture couples tying the knot at Las Vegas wedding chapels, he continues his American theme with a look at American patriotic love for their country.

Greg Williams’ ‘Couples Kissing’ captures the intimacy and humour of love on various film sets.

Poppy Berry looked at everlasting love, shooting portraits of couples married for over 50 years. Taking her project on, she also turned the lens to the beds that couples have shared during their time together.

Britta Jaschinksi looks at Britain’s obsession with their pets and love for nature, while Simon Norfolk chooses his award winning portraits of ventriloquists and their obsession with their dummies as well as a series of images depicting roadside memorials.

Tom Craig’s ‘Couple in Love’ documents a couple’s unique life together. He also presents a series of humorous pictures of lover’s lanes around the UK.

L.O.V.E is brought to you by procreate(tm) a new line of software expressly designed to extend the possibilities of creative professionals. Designed to pump up the capabilities of existing design tools, making it possible to produce eye-popping, jaw-dropping, breakthrough work.

Visitors to L.O.V.E will have the opportunity to view and try a new range of graphics software that gives creative professionals an extraordinary set of new tools, which are a perfect complement to any Adobe Photoshop user.
