"Eco Boutique: Installation and Sculpture by Josie Cavallaro, Lisa Kelly, Sarah Goffman"
2002-05-31 until 2002-06-15
24 HR Art - Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art
Darwin, NT, AU

Grungy, humorous and topical, Eco Boutique is an exhibition of sculpture and installation by Sydney-based artists Josie Cavallaro, Sarah Goffman and Lisa Kelly.  The exhibition explores, among other things, the tension between the artificial and the natural, the successes and failures of tourism and the nature of consumption.

The artists, who have never been to the Northern Territory, are interested in possible parallels between popular representations of the NT and their own urban environment.  Most of the work in the show could loosely be described as assemblage, possibly fabrication, (literally and ironically) using recycled materials, found objects and constructed scenarios.

24HR Art, Northern Territory Centre for Contemporary Art, Vimy Lane, Parap, Darwin. Gallery viewing hours are Wed - Fri 10am - 6pm Sat 10 am - 2pm or by appointment. 24HR Art is financially assisted by the NT Government through the Department of the Arts and Museums and the Australia Council, the Federal Government’s arts funding and advisory body.
