Indepth Arts News: "'Deceive' and 'Reveal': Two Summer Exhibitions" 2002-06-15 until 2002-07-06 Artspace - Generator Gallery Loughborough, , UK United Kingdom
Artspace presents 'Deceive' - the first half of a dual exhibition -
in Loughborough University School of Art and Design's Generator Gallery, Packe Street,
Loughborough. 19 Artspace artists will explore the visual
connotations of the word Deceive, looking at what is false, hidden or illusory.
Artists will include painters, printmakers, sculptors, textile, mixed media and
computer-aided artists.
A second exhibition, Reveal, will show the other side of the same coin and will look at
what is open and clear. This exhibition will take place in Charnwood Museum in August.
Both exhibitions are free and are accompanied by free arts workshops open to the public.
Artspace was founded in 1997 as a support for Charnwood artists and also to bring
contemporary art to the local community. It now has 26 members who exhibit widely.
It was recently awarded £10,000 by the Regional Arts Lottery to help provide publicity
and free colour catalogues for the exhibitions, for free workshops, and for mentors to
come in and give the group advice on their future development.
