Concerned with pattern, structure and abstraction, Tony Sweeting’s paintings are derived from microscopic images of cells. The title of the exhibition refers to Sweeting’s belief that “we have primal knowledge
stemming from our origins”.
Such knowledge comes from images of comfort relating to our first safe experiences – homes in caves, holes and other naturally wet or cellular places.
Tony Sweeting is a recent graduate of the National Institute of the Arts’ painting workshop.
