"Serenity: Oil Painting by Barbara Januszkiewicz"
2002-07-05 until 2002-08-05
Art League, Inc.
Alexandria, VA, USA United States of America

The Art League Gallery (Located in the Torpedo Factory) , will be exhibiting Barbara Januszkiewicz's still-life paintings in July. This solo-artist show named Serenity displays Januszkiewicz's newest works. From the outset, these works in series seems to be of hybrid style - realism handled in a impressionist manner. Her works express an abstract quality with realistic forms and subject matter.

An uncontrived and spontaneous touch dances around her works. The beautiful composition layouts express thought and an analytical process of observation. Paradoxically, this technique of spontaneous painting involves discipline and long training. An interesting part of her work is the harmony which she creates with placement of objects and the use of strong colors. The placement of her objects and the outer edges of the paintings create an interesting relationship. In this series, you can move from one painting to another finding the same objects wonderfully rearranged and creatively developed. In each work there is a balance of shapes and colors. In a short spell, one becomes less aware of the objects and more of the harmony of the composition and the magic of her brush stokes.

Attracted by her visual talents many collectors have chosen to include Barbara's works among private and public collections. Barbara's artworks have also appeared in feature film, cable and international television formats. Barbara also uses her art to reach out and help students focus on creative approaches to problem solving and freeing the imagination.

"I like to offer my time as an artist with kids in public schools," she explains. "Kids today are at risk of not getting visual art exposure. So what I have learned as an artist I try to share with my students. I believe in expressing oneself in art, learning that the techniques of releasing stress and creating enjoyable art are all the same."
