This August at the Deluxe Gallery, Hoxton Square, Anna Lewis and Robert Urquhart present The Jokes on Us, a fresh, innovative two week show dedicated to art and humour.
The exhibition will showcase a diverse selection of artists whose work is witty, playful, subversive and full of surprises, from Derrick Welsh's obscene embroidery to Simeon Farrar's Michael Jackson installation and Babek Ganjei's rock star waiting for the telephone to ring.
The show, which opens with Rosie Cooper's renowned Oscar acceptance speech, promises an eclectic mix of style and medium, from sound and video installations to performance events, combining in joyful
celebration of the daft and obscure.
Visual illusions, pantomime cows infiltrating nudist colonies, bad karaoke, and grannies dressed as fairies all serve to highlight the kaleidoscopic absurdity of humanity's ludicrous plight, while
reassuring us that its all a bit of a giggle really........
