"Mie Miyamoto: Section(s)"
2002-08-17 until 2002-09-09
Whitechapel Project Space
London, ,
UK United Kingdom
For the past 2 years Mie Miyamoto, a self-proclaimed street observer,
has been digitally recording the daily movements of the London
pedestrian, as a means to unlock and expose the city.
Starting at her home in Nathaniel Close, E1, Mie walked a 17.6
kilometre long East-West trek across London concluding in Argyle
Road, W13.
She sees the recordings of this journey as a means of pasting and
repairing pavement culture.
The documentation of this passage through the city will be presented
in the form of text, photography, drawing and mobile projection, at
the Whitechapel Project Space.
To compliment this show, the methodology of her project will be taken
onto the streets of Tokyo, in order to promote a dialogue between
these two global cities and their pedestrian citizens.
