"smARTmarkt: Summer Smalls"
2002-08-24 until 2002-09-30
Casa Del Arte
Highland, NY, USA United States of America

smARTmarkt is a roving small art gallery founded by Jennifer Frémont and Arthur Rotberg. smARTmarkt events occur seasonally at various venues around New York and the Northeast.  smARTmarkt gives artists an opportunity to have their work seen and bought by a diverse public -- from seasoned art collectors to art students to the intrigued passerby.  The goal of smARTmarkt is to make original fine art accessible and affordable for anyone.  smARTmarkt is a response to the 'intimidation factor' of art galleries and big ticket, large-scale art works, and aims to satisfy the desire of a cultured and curious public to own an original piece of art.

With Summer Smalls, smARTmarkt continues its curation of very small original & fine art works. 100 artists working in and around the Hudson Valley and New York City, as well as from around the world, were invited and encouraged to create spontaneous, witty, and fun works of art using any and all media -- with the only two 'rules' of the show being that of size and price.  All art works on exhibit fit into a display box (see illustrations above) provided to the artists. The price of all art works on display will be offered for sale from $1 to $100.
