"Works by Sudhir Deshpande"
2002-10-01 until 2002-10-31
Corn Exchange
Newbury, , UK United Kingdom

Sudhir, a self-taught sculptor and painter, lives and works in Nashik, an industrial and religious city about 100 miles outside Bombay, India. Many of Sudhirs paintings are based on Indian, particularly Vedic, philosophy, and some of his past sculptures include revolving mobile pieces and works that utilise music light and water. He has been recognised in the Guinness Book of Records since 1992 as having produced one of the largest sculptures in the world.

Currently, he is creating a 50-acre sculpture garden and studio space for visiting artists in Nashik. This will be his first exhibition in this country, consisting of digital works printed on canvas and paper.

Honestly, I cannot be away from creativity. I have to keep creating. Although I am known as a sculptor, cannot always be in the fabrication workshop. And there are many concepts and themes in mind and the world is full if inspirations. Which I look through my eyes and convert into artwork through my philosophy.

I feel the computer is good tool for all these. Suddenly, at 2, in midnight, something comes in mind to create and I cannot go to fabrication workshop, I do not find starched canvass but I can create on the computer. The honest tool. (If not corrupted)

Other benefit for the digital work, is, the management of the size of the artwork. And we can have limited editions in any size.

One thing is sure that there can never be compromise with the quality of art and creation.

I am enjoying the technique of the science and trying making happy everyone who loves my creations and me, while I am happy with my own themes and concepts. I create for my satisfaction without the compromise, some times some of my subjects and concepts are avoided by art lovers but appreciated by critics and when criticized by them, the Sell in good market.
