"The Midas Touch: Works by Gerard Di Falco"
2002-10-01 until 2002-11-13
Show of Hands Gallery
Philadelphia, PA, USA United States of America

The Midas Touch features new acrylic/mixed media paintings on canvas with highlights of gold by Gerard Di Falco, and his spiritually inspired miniatures of found objects (which he calls relics) on dazzling gold canvas. These works reflect a dramatic change from Di Falco's biting social commentaries on human interaction to works expressing the inner being in relationship to the beauty of creation on earth and beyond.

DiFalco won this year’s prestigious Pollock-Krasner Fellowship in Painting, and was awarded the highest monetary amount by the internationally renowned foundation. This award was established from the estates of American painters, Jackson Pollock and Lee Krasner. In the past, DiFalco’s other accolades have included a Visual Arts Fellowship Award in Painting from The Pennsylvania State Council on the Arts and the Rutgers University Award in Creative Writing for Poetry.

Recent solo exhibitions in Philadelphia include a "Thirteen Year Retrospective of Paintings" at the University of Pennsylvania (2001) and DaVinci Art Alliance (2000). Other solo exhibits in Philadelphia include: Creative Artist Network, Nexus Foundation for Today's Art, The Painted Bride, and Show of Hands Gallery. He has also shown his work at Figueroa, Madrid, Spain and Couturier Gallery in Los Angeles, CA.

Recent group exhibits include: Free Gallery in Glasgow, Scotland (2002), The Philadelphia Foundation (2001), Philadelphia Cathedral, Highwire Gallery and The Cosmopolitan Club (all in 2000) and Borowsky Gallery in 1999.

Di Falco's works are represented in numerous private and public collections in: Amsterdam, Holland; Barcelona, Spain; Paris, France; Toronto, Canada; San Francisco, CA; New York City, Miami Beach + South Beach, Washington, D.C., and throughout the Philadelphia area.

The Gallery, celebrating its tenth year of operation, is located right in the heart of Philadelphia’s Antique Row at 1006 Pine Street. Hours are Monday through Friday, 11:30 A.M. to 6:00 PM. Saturdays and Sundays, from Noon to 5:00 P.M. For more information call, 215-592-4010.
