"Call for Art Organisations: Internet Collaboration Opportunity"
2002-10-21 until 2002-12-31
AfricanColours
Harare, , ZW Zimbabwe

Arts organisations in Africa are being sought for collaboration and linking together in an association which will be named: AfricanColours Artists Associations. The AAA is a mediator between the local art industry and the international art business.

Currently art organisations in Africa have acces to the Internet but they have no sufficient e-marketing and communication tools to get updated connections with each other and the global networks. AfricanColours will facilitate these tools by joint cooperatives. Together the organizations will create, build and benefit from a solid Africa information infrastructure on Visual Arts and Contemporary Culture.

The partners in these AAA will receive training in presentation and promotion of visual art and contemporary culture via the Internet. They will work with a content management system (using basic html, Photoshop/Paintshop Pro and FTP programmes) and distribute their art messages via the AfricanColours website. Likewise they help to create their own market and a sustainable Art Agency from which also others (local and international art institutes, press and media) may benefit.

* IN CO-OPERATION WITH
Art organisations, institutes and artists associations in various countries in Africa

* STATEMENT
AfricanColours looks upon art as a tool for humanity and social justice. Art is highlighting messages of empowerment and cultural identity. Where governmental support for the Arts is lacking, artists tend to move away to places where there is a bigger market and better educational opportunities. AfricanColours would like to put effort and energy in the sustainability of local art markets in Africa.
