One of the highlights of Cape Town's visual arts calendar this year will be the 11th ART SALON AT THE BAY – NEW DIRECTIONS.
This exhibition - now in its second decade - has been a barometer for where con-temporary art in South Africa is heading. Once again this show will be curated and presented by noted Cape Town art consultant Rose Korber at The Bay Hotel, Victoria Road, Camps Bay. Featured in this significant, milestone exhibition will be recent paintings, drawings, original prints, sculpture, photography and ceramics by some 75 leading and emerging, contemporary artists from all over South Africa – all under one roof!
Included will be familiar names such as Willie Bester, Sam Nhlengethwa, Walter Oltman, Nina Romm, Jenny Stadler, Francine Scialom Greenblatt, Penny Stutterheim, Robert Slingsby, John Kramer, Paul Blomkamp, Louis Jansen van Vuuren and Walter Meyer.
Rose Korber says, "This year's show will also introduce new directions taken by artists such as Brett Murray, Kevin Brand, Sanelle Aggenbach, Bitterkomix (Conrad Botes and Anton Kannemeyer), Egon Tania, Peter Eastman, John Murray and Tracy Gander".
"A dynamic range of ceramics from all over South Africa will include new works by Ian Garrett, Katherine Glenday, Barbara Jackson, Bea Jaffray, Wendy McLachlan, Rebecca Tetley, Lisa Firer, Louise Gelderblom, Hennie Meyer, Madoda Fani, Syabonga Fani, John Kasozu Matovu, Heather Mills, Samantha Morgan and Cilla Williams".
