"Catriona Fraser and Malcolm Sharp: Landscapes of Scotland"
2002-12-13 until 2003-01-08
Fraser Gallery
Bethesda, MD, USA United States of America

Two photographers offer their views of their ancestral homeland. The infrared work of Catriona Fraser, part one of her "Seven Celtic Nations Project" accompanied by the work of acclaimed Scottish photographer Malcolm Sharp centered around the landscapes offered by the Scottish land and its history.

Art critic J.W. Mahoney wrote about Fraser's work in the Washington Review: "The single eye of Catriona Fraser's camera has been directed toward the timeless world of her Celtic ancestors for many years now, and, even as the infrared film she uses is expressively sensitive to heat, the quality of the light in all her pictures saturates the spaces she photographs with an unforgettably intense aura of the holy."

Critic Ferdinand Protzman in the Washington Post called her work "brooding and evocative" and wrote about Sharp's work: "There's a stark edge to Sharp's photographs that makes them unique."
