"Larry Scully 80"
2002-12-05 until 0000-00-00
Sasol Art Museum, University of Stellenbosch
Stellenbosch, , ZA South Africa

A retrospective exhibition of Larry Scully's work, "LARRY SCULLY 80", opened on Wednesday 4 December 2002 at the Sasol Art Museum, Ryneveld Street, Stellenbosch. This formidable artist, residing in Stellenbosch, turns 80 on 12 December. He has been an art teacher, head of fine arts departments and active painter for more than half a century.

His extensive curriculum vitae reflects his achievements over the years. Critics have, over the years, always been excited about what this larger than life artist could accomplish on canvas.

The name of Larry Scully has over the past few decades become synonymous with that of Stellenbosch, more specifically the University of Stellenbosch. His murals (wall-panels) in the Conservatorium are a monument to his creativity. The Rector and Vice-Chancellor, Prof Chris Brink recently referred to him as the 'icon of Stellenbosch'
