Parsons School of Design, Paris and the Quang Gallery are proud to
present
the photographic exhibit of Alexandre Borodouline' Brighton Beach
Bodies. A reknown photo journalist and fashion photographer, Borodouline began
his
career in New York in the seventies and soon became one of the most
notorious photographers of his generation.
In 1979 Borodouline began photographing the beaches of Coney Island.
Over
the period of two years he compiled a collection of images which he
later
entitled Time/Life Brighton Beach.
Some of the images were published by the Zoom magazine in 1983. However,
the series was never publicly exposed before.
The photographs presented in the show bare the unmistakable stamp of its
era. Working in the distinctly American tradition of Weggy and Diane
Arbus,
yet having his own distinct style, Borodouline was able to bring his
unique
vision of the American human condition with directness and pitilessness
of
a true master.
