"Call for Artists: South Tyrol Sculpture Path"
2003-01-08 until 2003-02-15
Lana Art
Lana, , IT Italy

The community of Lana, not far from Bolzano in Northern Italy, is inviting proposals for sculpture projects from sculptors and enviromental artists, for the South Tyrol Sculpture Path outside Lana. The South Tyrol Sculpture Path is a Land /Art project organised by LanaArt. The event will be held between June 26 and July 13, 2003.

The sculpture route is a footpath through the environment surrounding the town, a walk to become aware of the natural rythm of human passage through the environment as opposed to the rapid speed of our everyday life. The aim of LANA ART is to create the right conditions to enjoy art in the open air. This organising principle does not imply rigid rules to be followed, but only dynamic developments and intentional processes that are open to differences and unexpected events.

Deadlines

Feb 15 2003
Those interested in participating in the project should apply to us by Feb 15 2003.

Send your application, with photos of your recent works, a biography and a design of your proposed artwork for the project.

Please submit also a text concerning the content of your work. The artworks should be integrated into the natural environment of the area.

Feb 19 2003
The Jury will choose 10 projects for realisation.

June 26 - July12 2003
Sculpture days. The artists are realising their projects in Lana, working in workshops and in industrial plants of the town.

July 11 2003
Opening of the SOUTH TYROLY SCULPTURE PATH 2003.

The artists should bring their own tools if possible. While in Lana, they will create their art works in workshops and in industrial plants of the town. The sculpture should be designed for placement within the public realm, with the durability of its construction an important factor. You may work in stone, wood, steel, and other materials subitable for the public and natural environment. The material have to be ordered before the symposion starts, therefore you must specify exactly the materials required relative to the scale of your project. The works will remain at their site on the sculpture path in Lana. Lana Art will care for the different materials and the costs according to the projects.

Lana Art contributes an equal amount of Euro 1.200.- to all participants, and we reimburse travel costs (maximum Euro 300). Also, accomodation and food will be provided.

We will publish a cataloge at the end of the symposion.
