Indepth Arts News: "Anne Noble and Deborah Paauwe Photographs" 2003-02-04 until 2003-03-01 Bartley Nees Project Wellington, , NZ New Zealand (Aotearoa)
Anne Noble has released some new images from her series Ruby’s Room - a
group of photographs where she has worked with her daughter to capture
evocative moments of childhood – the almost universal way that children play
with their mouths.
Deborah Paauwe is a young Australian artist who has been attracting a lot of
attention in the past few years with her distinctive images of young girls.
Paauwe, amazingly, has had nine solo exhibitions in the past two years and
is currently featured on the cover of the Australian Art Collector magazine
as one of Australia’s 50 most collectable artists.
The images from these two artists represent visually stunning photography
that is at once highly contemporary and topical - raising interesting
questions about the depiction of children and the relationship between the
viewer and the viewed, between women and girls, between innocence and
knowledge.
