THE DEPARTMENT OF ART at Bradley University is privileged to present the 29th Bradley National Print and Drawing Exhibition. It is with great pleasure and pride that they present this exceptional collection to the people of Central Illinois, the nation, and their students. The Bradley National is one of the most dynamic educational exposures in graphic arts anywhere in the country. The lessons conveyed through this national and international survey are breathtaking examples of the best in graphic arts and especially pertinent to art and design students who wish to experience abundant professional lessons in every aspect of drawing and printmaking.
The exhibition is just too large to host on our campus alone, and so we give many thanks for the support of our good friends and local arts agencies, The Contemporary Art Center and The Peoria Art Guild, who have generously provided additional and very ample gallery spaces.
The Bradley National Print and Drawing Exhibition is among the oldest and most well-respected print and drawing exhibitions in the United States. It began in 1950 and throughout its long history, it has grown to become one of the most cherished and treasured exhibitions in graphic arts.
The 29th Bradley National includes works from throughout North America and from around the world. The international flavor has been growing steadily over the past decade and continues to reflect a diverse cultural presence in today’s exhibition. It is truly a fascinating experience to explore and appreciate the best and the brightest draftspersons and printmakers. The viewer will be intrigued with the endless range of imagery and inspired by the depth and richness reflected in the methods and materials of the graphic arts. The University takes special pride in presenting both established talents from throughout the world as well as discovering emerging artists who demonstrate remarkable qualities of instrumentation and imagination.
The Exhibition's organizers are grateful for the expertise of the fine Juror, Karen Kunc, and also to the Illinois Arts Council for their generous and continuing support. They welcome Pamela Ayres, our new Director of Galleries, Exhibitions, and Collections at Bradley, and ‘heap large praise’ on her for doing a splendid job in organizing all of the myriad details of this enormous task. They would like to express our gratitude to The Peoria Art Guild and Contemporary Art Center for their continuing participation in this project. With the support of our community of arts organizations and our patrons, as well as the on-going support of the Illinois Arts Council, the future of the International Print and Drawing Exhibition is increasing to an ever widening audience who appreciate and enjoy the magic of impressions.
