"Futures to Come: Architecture, Building, and Business"

Danish Architecture Centre presents Denmark's most comprehensive 3D exhibition in the fields of architecture, building, and business. The exhibition, "Futures to Come" will be open from the 12th of March until the 9th of June. Place: Strandgade 27 B in the centre of Copenhagen. Open daily from 10 am – 17 pm. Admission free. The exhibition Futures to Come introduces an entire industry to 3D technology. "3D real-time technology presents us with a 'building simulator' which provides a fundamentally new way of envisioning and performing building projects", says Kent Martinussen, Managing Director of Danish Architecture Centre (DAC).
Fewer blind spots in the building process
The new 3D real-time technology offers the industry a visual tool that can be used by all parties involved in the building process because it makes it possible to literally 'step right into' an architect's drawings. As Kent Martinussen notes, "Planning with the help of 3D real-time means that there are fewer blind spots in the many phases of construction. Clients, craftsmen, and users can go on a virtual exploration of all the corners of a building long before the first sod is turned."
Creative ideas in the street scene
3D real-time technology is a tool that will change the street scene and the way we think about construction. By using computer programs architects can now produce architectonic forms that have never been seen before. The computer can transform visions into concrete geometry and building components and make it possible to actually see them in practice. The new possibilities can clearly be seen in the projects that a new generation of American architects are exhibiting at DAC.
A panacea?
The perspectives for the building industry are interesting if building simulators are used from the beginning of a building project. "3D real-time may sound rather like a panacea. But when was the last time we heard of a building project that didn't exceed the budget? Thanks to 3D real-time the Telenor project in Norway with a budget of NOK 4.4 billion was performed to the satisfaction of all parties, with few faults and shortcomings, and completely within the budget. This story must be told in Denmark," states Kent Martinussen.
Denmark wants to join in
There has been no difficulty in obtaining financial backing for the exhibition from the business community in Denmark. Fonden Realdania (the Realdania Fund) supported the project by making it possible to establish a permanent 3D real-time studio at DAC and to hold technical seminars on the use of 3D real-time in construction. All business partners and sponsors are aware of the great value of promoting knowledge of 3D real-time technology because it enhances communication in the building industry and includes the local environment and users in the building process.
